"Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart" (2 Corinthians 4:1, ESV).
As we dedicate ourselves completely to the Lord, it's very important to remind ourselves that "we do not lose heart." If we lose heart, we lose our focus. If we lose heart, we won't focus on dedicating all we are and all we have to the Lord. When we lose heart, we lose the energy and push we need to act. It's hard to see our goals come to fruition when we lose heart. This is because often when we lose heart, we give up. So we keep reminding ourselves what Scripture says, "We do not lose heart." You can personalize it and say, "I do not lose heart." Say it. Say it during the good times, and say it even when feels like you're losing heart. When we speak the Word of God, our hearts are strengthened. The best thing about this verse is that not losing heart is NOT dependent on us. There is something that makes the way for us to live in the ministry of the New Covenant, to live in freedom, and to not lose heart: the mercy of God! It's by His mercy that we live in the benefits of the New Covenant; it's by His mercy that we do not lose heart. So as you follow His leading in Bible reading, prayer, discipline, fasting, service, worship, etc. I remind you that you can do it. Stay faithful; stay true. Stay disciplined in your dedication. "We do not lose heart"! -Pastor Tim
